Get To Know District 7

In Beaufort County, we have eleven geographical districts that are each represented by a County Councilperson and School Board Trustee. These representatives are elected by residents within their designated district. When we vote for County Council Representatives and School Board Trustees, we can only vote for candidates in the district where we reside.

In 2020, terms are expiring for County Council Representatives in Districts 1, 3, 5 and 7. Incumbent representatives are running unopposed in Districts 1, 3, and 5, and the current official in District 7, (Michael Covert) is not seeking re-election. I am running to represent District 7.

District 7 includes the Buckwalter corridor of Bluffton, and is one of the most densely populated districts in Beaufort County. There are five public schools within the boundaries of District 7: Bluffton Early Childhood Center, Bluffton Elementary School, H.E. McCracken Middle School, Bluffton High School and River Ridge Academy.

District 7 is also home to several businesses including the Buckwalter Place complex, Berkeley Place complex, and coming soon, the new Washington Square development. The boundaries of District 7 run from the western side of Buck Island road to the eastern side of US 170; the northern side of May River Rd to the southern side of Hwy 278. Planned communities within the boundaries of District 7 include:

* Rose Hill
